Dr. Suh was raised in Huntington Beach where he was valedictorian of his graduating class at Edison high school. Next, he completed his undergraduate studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
His education continued at the prestigious University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) where he received his medical degree.
Also, he completed his surgical residency and Advanced Laparoscopic, Biliopancreatic and Bariatric Fellowship at UCSF. He was awarded the NIH Grant for his research activities at UCSF where he received his appointment as a clinical instructor in minimally invasive surgery. He has presented at international meetings and has numerous research publications.
He is board certified with the American Board of General Surgery.
Internationally, Dr. Suh is recognized as a pioneer in laparoscopic surgical techniques, to improve patient outcome and reduce surgical complications. He is a preceptor for his techniques in bariatric procedures where surgeons from different parts of United States as well as surgeons from Australia, India and Korea have travelled to observe him in surgery.
Recently, he presented his results at the Asian Chapter of The International Federation for The Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) in Seoul, Korea.
Dr. Suh is dedicated to the success of every patient. He is passionate about bariatric surgery, always researching ways to improve the safety and effectiveness of the surgical weight-loss process. He is one of a handful of surgeons in the world who has performed over 6000 bariatric procedures. He has been practicing medicine in Southern California since 2001.
He is the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Southwest Healthcare System and currently Chief of Surgery.
